Ashley Calton is a Virginia Beach native and a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a degree in English and Creative Writing. While living in Richmond, Ashley worked as a school director for The Goddard School where she trained teachers and staff and implemented Virginia state standards of learning into preschool and pre-k curriculum. Ashley relocated to Roanoke with her husband and newborn son in 2016 and has since had one more son. She worked as a Social Media Manager and Blogger for a Hampton Roads based company, focusing especially in Hampton Roads real estate and the wedding industry. She joined The Junior League of Roanoke Valley to get more involved with the community and has worked as a member of the Communications team, STAR Magazine Editor, and will be the Membership Experience Vice President for the 2024-2025 League year. Ashley also works as the President of her childrens’ elementary school and as a bookkeeper for a Richmond based non-profit called REAL Life, which focuses on assisting those in recovery and/or recently released from incarceration to prevent recidivism. In her free time, Ashley enjoys trying new breweries with her family and Sunday afternoon trivia with her family and close friends.

Ashley grew up in an impoverished household, raised by a single mother with limited access to many different resources, including a stable home life and health care. Because of this early childhood trauma, Ashley understands first hand the necessity of helping parents through the early years of childhood, making sure they have access to equitable health care and resources.
