Pregnant Moms Program
Child Health Investment Partnership facilitates better health care for expectant mothers and their babies in order to give children the best possible start in life. Registered Nurses work with expectant mothers of all ages to promote optimal birth weight, decrease infant mortality, and stop or reduce high risk behaviors including smoking, drug and alcohol use. Child Health Investment Partnership further works to reduce the incidence of prolonged hospital stays and decrease the number of days spent in NICU.
Expectant mothers understand and become accustomed to preventive care including regular prenatal care and specialist support for health risks such as high blood pressure and diabetes, and may seek counseling for post-partum depression. Child Health Investment Partnership also provides parenting education and establishes a medical home after birth for check-ups, sick visits and specialty care. HOPE Parenting the 1st year and 2nd year educational pamphlets are mailed monthly to new moms to alleviate the stress associated with being a first-time parent.
Child Health Investment Partnership partners with Text 4 Baby, a free mobile service that provides pregnant women and new parents with information they need to take care of their health and give their babies the best possible start in life. Women who sign up for the service receive free SMS text messages each week, timed to their due date or baby’s date of birth. Sign up by texting BABY (or BEBE for updates in Spanish) to 511411, or for more information visit http://www.text4baby.org.
